Roman views toward women and children

During the time of the Twelve Tables, Romans believed that they men were greatly superior to women and children. A child who was born deformed would automatically be killed. A father could even give up his son if he surrendered him three times. Roman men believed that they had complete control over women. The job of women solely to take care of children. When a man and woman got married, the man became like the woman's father and she his daughter. She was there to serve him, and she had to do everything he asked. According to the Twelve Tables, Roman men had complete control over their women and children.
